Southern Damaraland

We had more rain last night so the mozzie bites are increasing - I'm so covered in repellant I'm making myself sneeze and wheeze!
I got up early again for a 2 hour walk along the baboon trail, up to the top of a hill with stunning views over Erongo.

Emmanuel described the uses of the various trees as medicines for tape worm, tummy upsets, flu etc and identified the numerous birds singing and shouting. My favourite is the 'work harder, get lager' bird!

Somewhere in this photo is an oryx

And an easier to spot dik-dik

Then it was off on another bone rattling four hour drive through a desolate landscape to Camp Kipwe in southern Damaraland.
This area has had no proper rain for five years and there is a serious water shortage. It is very hot, dry and windy so at least hopefully that means a respite from the munching mozzies!
Disappointly there are no guided walks here as advertised, so I had a rather long afternoon snooze instead.
This is the view from the top of the sundowner rock, not a lot happening out there apart from the odd ostrich and springbok

The light was rather beautiful as the sun set

Dinner was by now predictably huge (Nambians obviously like huge plates of red meat!) with a stunning view
