We then parked the Tank and met the guide who drove us to Desert Rhino Lodge. It was a long, bumpy 3 hour drive into complete wilderness.
There was a bit of exercise on the way when we had to jump start the vehicle several times!
It is a vast, empty landscape where the animals are spread out so hard to spot. This Mummy and baby made my day - I love giraffes 😍
We had the slightly alarming wild animal safety talk - what could possibly go wrong??
We then set off for a two hour walk with Bons the guide who, unlike our walking safari guide in Tanzania, doesn't carry a gun. It was mildly worrying seeing the remains of a kudu that had been caught and devoured by hyenas very near the camp. Apparently there are also lions around - we will be escorted to our tent after dinner!
